Evermore by Lynn Viehl
Lynn Viehl is starting to become one of my favorite authors, but then so are J.R. Ward, Christine Feehan and Kim Harrison among the other authors writing paranormal romance these days.

There was a time when I restricted my reading to a very specific circle of authors and a very specific genre, Historical Romance – Catherine Coulter, Amanda Quick, Julie Garwood, Iris Johansen, Brenda Joyce, Diana Gabaldon, to name a few.

Thankfully, some of those authors started writing contemporary romances; I resisted for a while but gave in because of lack of reading material, and now I am very glad for it. It opened the door to me being able to go for new authors and new reading material.

I have become very attached to the Darkyn, probably because they are not only immortal and drink blood to stay alive, but also have a unique "talent". Very like Night Lost, there were a couple of story lines intertwined in this book and if the effect the author wanted was to have me panting for the next book release, she can be completely satisfied, I´ve already pre ordered Twilight Fall, which should be out by July this year.

The characters, especially Jayr, are a delight and the "love from afar" theme, while always frustrating, still worked for me. Since I admire strong, capable women, Jayr felt like a friend from the first. There are some legends involved which were amusing - References to Robin Hood - and the end had an interesting twist.

Byrne, the "love interest" is the Mel Gibson, Braveheart type who is a tortured soul and continually suffers for it. But then, we just love that, right?; ah, we want to cuddle them and tell them they will be O.K. so long as they are in our arms. *Sigh*

This book will keep you entertained and very warm - if you catch my drift. These Darkyn couples will be the death of me!

From the Back Cover

A WILLING SACRIFICE...

They are the only scars that mar Jayr’s milky skin. Scars left by her Darkyn master, Byrne, when she gave her human life to save his. Made immortal, Jayr has served as Byrne’s Faithful Seneschal - and secretly loved him – for centuries.

AN ENDURING BOND...

Every full moon, Jayr and Byrne renew their oath of loyalty by sharing each other’s blood. Although the erotic ritual has become the only intimacy and pleasure they know, the price of immortality demands that they never be more than master and seneschal.

AN UNIMAGINABLE END...

Unbeknownst to Jayr, Byrne decides to leave the Kyn and retreat to a life of isolation. And the sole purpose of the tournament he’s holding is to find a new master for Jayr. As the Kyn fight for Byrne’s realm, hidden passions and ancient grudges flare to life, threatening not only Byrne’s sanity but Jayr’s very existence...
